What you should do is mark the pits with a sharpie and see if they
are the SAME pits or more likely they are moving around.
How much came with the kit? 1/2 LB?
You might be using too much grit...
120 Alox? Is it white (AlOx) or Black (SiC)

Remember that! Much of what we agonize over will not make much
difference at the eye piece! But still make a nice mirror!
