To detail a bit more, the device looks like a sight tube, 3" - 4" long.
The micro display chip is in the back of the tube, the lens system (like an
eyepiece) to the front.
You look into the tube and see the display magnified, as if it is a large
screen several yards away.
Eye relief would be an inch or so.

The planconvex lens will probably have too much distortion at the edges.
Also, the chromatic abberations should be low.

Hopefully this clears up the question some more?
