Ulhas,
>would this give the RMS P-V error
I think that RMS P-V error is not defined. Error is either RMS or P-V.
P-V is simple number you can read off the surface deviation graph
in Sixtests. It is related to two points of the mirror surface (highest and
lowest).
RMS is statistically calculated number and involves data from the
whole mirror surface deviations from a target conic.
>if the peak to valley distance in nm was measured form the
>surface error curve and divided by wavelength
> would this be the P-V Error?
This would be P-V error in waves.
> I got a Strehl of 0.959 and an RMS error of 9.9 nm.
> Does this translate to an RMS P-V error of 9.9/550= 1/55.5 waves !!!.
This translates to RMS (not RMS P-V)error of
1/55.5 waves (congratulation).
>Similarly the Peak to Valley diff on the surface error curve is 40 nm i.e
> 40/550= 1/13.75 waves
That is correct.
