[ATM] Figuring an 8" F6. Please help

Might I suggest that, as suggested, you use short COC strokes to get back to
a sphere, then use a long pressing session (a couple hours with just the
weight of the mirror or tool, whichever is on top), and use very short
figuring sessions (a matter of a few minutes each), then allow the mirror to
come to equilibrium with the surrounding air temperature (overnight even)
and then test.  It  takes longer, but your results will be more satisfying,
particularly for your first mirror.
