[ATM] Figuring an 8" F6. Please help

I am working on figuring my first mirror, an 8? F6, and I am ready to throw it out the window.  I had a figure with the central 2 zones spherical and the outer 3 zones dropped off from there.  I did the TOT stroke for TDE for an hour and now all of the zones seem turned down (as I move the carriage away from the mirror, first, the outer zone, zone 5, goes null, then 4, then 3, then 2, then the center).  I expected just the oposite.  I must be doing something wrong, as I have been trying for days to get the mirror to resemble the paraboloid that it is supposed to be and I am getting further from my goal.  What do I do next?  Do I go COC alternating MOT and TOT to get a sphere and start figuring all over?  Please help!
