[ATM] viewing in stereo - a bit off topic, but interesting anyway

If I remember correctly William Cook wrote an article in either Telescope
making or ATM Journal about binoculars, stereo optics and 3d viewing. He
mentioned battleship fire control binoculars with something like 30 feet or
more of objective separation and the sense when looking through them that
the ships viewed through them looked small or like toys. I might see if I
can find that article.
