One of the regular things that I have to teach people is that you don't
carry anything over a tool or lap when moving things about like the spray
bottle and so forth. This can be a nasty problem, especially when polishing
the mirror as you may pick up dust on the item and it drops off at the
Murphy time without your knowing it.
In addition, the lap should be coated with CeO just like it was when you
were doing polishing when you are figuring. Often several figuring sessions
are done by me with nothing but a refreshing of the water on the lap as the
time actually spent figuring can be quite short. I've seen mirrors go from
1/4 wave to 1/20th wave just with 20 strokes of the mirror on the lap.
