I had my mirror coated by Bob Fries a couple of weeks ago.
The turn over was one day. Check out his web site.

Subject: [ATM] Mirror Coating Recommendations, Anyone?
Now that I've got my scopes all rebuilt, it suddenly occurred to me that
it's been 21 years since my oldest mirror, my 12 1/2", was coated. It's
definitely yellowed, compared with my newer mirrors. (On one hand, it's
only reflecting about 28% of the light that reaches it; on the other hand,
it can now vote.) I checked the ATM Resource List and finally chose
Clausing for a new coating. However, it has been almost three weeks and
they haven't responded to e-mails or fax and now I've kind of decided
against phoning them, because even if they are still in business, that kind
of customer service doesn't bode well.
So two questions: 1) I know there's been a lot of discussion about
enhanced coatings being rougher than standard coatings, sometimes
scattering enough light to actually degrading the image instead of
improving it. Is this still the case?
And 2) Can anyone out there recommend a good North American optical coater
that they've done business with recently?
Thanks,
Jay
