Yes, it is pretty frequent. If you are far from the
target sagitta (depth in the center), you may continue
as you did. If you are getting close, on the other hand,
you should switch to less agressive strokes and finer
grit (#80), MOT (mirror on top). More or less long center over
center strokes, or still reasonably off-center, as you
prefer. The surface erosion should then start to get
more equally spread.
