To all,
About a year ago I brought up the idea (not new) of testing mirrors in
the
position that they will be utilized. No one on this ATM list views through
their completed mirrors in the position that most are tested, on its edge
facing the horizon. I test my mirror from a 6 foot tripod to the ground,
about
35 to 40 degree tilt. My suggetion at the time was that this was a great
idea
for all, since this angle is closer to the position of the optic in use.
I was met with replies of basically mind your own business and we have
been
testing mirrors horizontally forever and have had no problems.
Mirrors are getting thinner and atmers are pushing alot of thin glass.
If you have a 2" thick piece of glass or thicker , you could probably test
it
upside down and not have any problems. 3/4" glass will fold on edge without
support when diameters get larger than 10 inches, why not let it lean back
in
a recliner with some support ( like me watching a good movie) and then test
it.
Or even better, (as stated previously in this thread), in the cell it will
be
living in..... Just a thought from another angle....
