Cost but most important to me is weight. The less
weight the more portable it is. I don't live at a
good observing location.
A properly designed whiffle tree mirror cell for my
16" F5 is not hard to make so no big deal. Some
people just don't like to make whiffle trees for this
class of scope I guess.
Even Dobson in his video uses a primitave Whiffle tree
and not carpet. I don't know which he used first
carpet or Whiffle tree. But I suspect that the
whiffle tree is the latter.
