[ATM] finishes and sky-rock
There was a guy at the ALPO convention this year that was an expert in that
field. Check their site for the convention notes and you should find his name.

> I have 2 things to bring to you tonite. Firstly, you have made me think
> a bit to
> the days when I worked for P.E.C. We made equipment for Eastman Kodak.
> Among our triumphs were the VCNA,(video Color Negative Anaylizer) that
> could produce the perfect image for photo-finishing.We also made a similar
> machine for cinematography.Got an Academy Award for it.I learned how to
> finish alum sheet metal there. Basically,you get a scotch-brite pad,(green)
> and attach it to an old orbital sander.Sprinkle on some kerosene and
> 'sand'.The result is a beautiful dull sheen that hides a multiple of
> sins. When I was doing boat-work in Fla. we used bronze wool instead of
> steel wool. When the bronze began to tarnish,it's color would blend into
> almost any wood.
> Now the sky rock. I met a man some time ago who showed me a 'flake' that
> weighed in at 20lbs.It rang like a bell when I hammered it. He then showed
> me the parent rock.About the size of a VW this thing looks like its surface
> had been melted.I'am no stranger to rocks, and this baby looks like no other
> rock from this neighborhood. The mamma runs in the 2,000lb range.I will be
> getting the flake in the near future, and need to know how to field test
> this thing before any announcement,(or not) happens. Should it be the real
> deal,I'd like some of you to hike up here and get in on the fun.The owner
> is not the type to look for a condo in Monaco,in finders fees.He just wants
> it identified and placed in a museum somewhere.Any ideas will be helpful.
> regards, Ron
