[ATM] AAUUUHHGGG!!!!!! what the &*^% is that?

Well, I made a new ronchi screen, looked at my mirror, a perfect spher, 
lines crisp, straight up and down, no TDE or TUE,  no holes, simply perfect. 
  So I did some reading and I found that to do a long slow multiple "W" 
stroke to bring down the center some leaving the edges for figuring.  I 
picked up my lap that had been sitting there now for a couple of days, 
washed it off in water, put it into a pan of warm water for a couple of min. 
  everything looking good,  Started to do long multiple "W"'s,  after a few 
minutes, a peice of the lap chipped off on the edge, I washed off the mirror 
and lap inspected it, looked good no scratches from the chip, and then went 
back to grinding, (ya with me to this point? good). Now before putting the 
mirror down, I let the dog into the house as it was raining out,(mistake 1). 
  the dog came into the kitchen and shook like dogs do,  (mistake 2), I went 
to the table, looked at it, saw some droplets of water that the dog shook 
off, got a paper towel, cleaned them off the table, (my mistake 3)  Put the 
mirror onto the lap, and started to push.  after  min, rotated the pitch, 
and mirror, looked at the mirror.  and all of the mistakes came to haunt me 
in that one instance.  a huge scratch in 2 places plus little spider 
scratches!!!!!!!!!.  I looked at the mirror,  and almost shot the dog right 
there on the spot.  when he shook, he removed the water on him, and any 
little peices of sand that were on his lower body,
a couple peices of this landed on the lap,  I cleaned the table, but did not 
think to rinse off the lap!!

I can actually feel this scratch with my fingernail!!!  :( back to 120grit.  
thank goodness I made a seperate tool for my lap and did not use my grinding 
tool for a lap base.  I have cleaned the lap, but I want to remake it and 
remake it, any idea as to how to get it off the tool made from hydrostone.
