If you live in UK you may be an happy man since the cheapest
place I know of around is

Did not use their service so far, so I cannot comment. But
the price difference is large enough for me to drive there
when I will need a coating. All other places I know of
(in France) are *&#^$ expensive.

As you say, posts might not be relaible especially for a big mirror.
But for a well packed 8" I think it should be OK.

Good luck, and if you learn about reasonably priced
and good places in Europe where to have mirrors coated
please share the info!
