I think the point is first to determine what kinds of deformation are
produced by different mounting schemes and then to determine what is
significant.  Just dismissing them out of hand because they are just so many
numbers does not help us progress.

If you could tell me exactly when a bending in the mirror becomes
insignificant then we can get on with a boring hobby.
