Next time your building a plywood dob, even if it looks strangely like a
kitchen cabinet, here's a finishing tip.Sand-papering can leave a fuzz that
is hard to deal with prior to sealing and varnishing.Drag marks from a
planer can be a real pain to.Try this.Go buy a box of dry-wall knife
blades. These ziggurat shaped blades can be used as scrappers to cut the
fuzz and high drag marks on wood.Just take the blade between your thumb and
fingers, and scrape the wood surface at a 70 degree angle. The resultant
finish is almost glass smooth. You only need to seal and varnish. The surface
is very smooth and silky.A few coats of urethane only make the obvious even
better. As the blades dull, save them for re-sharpening.I'm working on my
4-drawer dobsonian and it looks great!
