At F3.3, it is a bit long for a Hindle Sphere so go for it.
The front is where I'd grind and start with a small (3" or so pipe end cap
will be excellent) iron tool to take down the edges and then make a plaster
tool from the curve that you get.
This will get the best use from the glass and is my plan if it was my glass.
BTW, I've got a 8" piece of refractor glass that needs the same basic
operation done on it.
