Perhaps.  4.32e-3 mm is 1.7e-4 inches or 0.17 thousands of an inch.  I 
don't have a dial indiactor that can measure to that accuracy.

Obviously if the compression CAN be measured by a such dial indicator 
then we are OK, since the bending of the backplate would be less than 
required tolerance due to the compression of the RTV pads due to a 0.306 
kb load..  On the other hand, if the compression is not measurable (with 
a dial indicator) there is still room for uncertainty.

Also, there is a some room for play.  If we make the pads thicker (e.g. 
4mm) and narrower (e.g. 18mm) we can improve the elasticity of the pad 
at the cost of a change in (a) the max loading and (b) the shear 
performance.
