[ATM] Specs on Orion mirrors
I have one of the older Guan Sheng Orion 10-inch dobs, and I would agree.
The scope has been a very nice purchase for the money, and it has given me
some great views. That said, the manufacturer can only spend so much time
on a mirror for a $600 scope if he wants to stay in business. As a result,
some of the mirrors are better than others.
My mirror is ok, and it is what I expected to get for what I paid for it.
But I am going to refigure it myself. When I'm done, I'll have a very nice
mirror, and I will still have money in my pocket. Unless you have deep
pockets, I think that you can make a better mirror than you can buy. The
reason is that you can take the time to make it right (because you are not
paying yourself a wage).

Well, it speaks for its self doesn't it?
Many makers of optical surfaces hold to the belief that they know better
what their costomer needs than their costomer does. Arrogant as this may
be, in general, it's true.
I would suggest you ask what their critera is for considering a mirror
"done." And in turn where the mirror they would have you buy, fits on this
scale. I would suggest that, but I'm not. Instead I suggest you make your
own mirror.
