Re: ATM Schwarzschild part 2

OR Sinnott vs. Korsch, Malacara & Schroeder

In his book "Astronomical Optics", Daniel J.Schroeder writes that the
anastigmatic aplanat, with concave secondary and primary mirrors is "the
so-call Couder". He goes on to describe the Schwarzschild concentric
anastigmat, with its small convex primary and large perforated concave
secondary. .

In his book "Reflective Optics", Dietrich Korsch similarly attributes the
two telescope designs. Elsewhere, Malacara, both of them, also call the
concentric anastigmat a schwarzschild.

In Sinnott's paper the convex primary design is mentioned and dismissed as
being "elegant but impractical" Sinnott then goes on to describe the two
concave mirror anastigmatic aplanat and attributes it to Schwarzschild.

Both Couder and Schwarzschild made many investigations and contributions in
and to the field of optics. Proper attribution is important and I don't
know who is more deserving. Schwarzschild does already have a constant
though. But then again, couder is harder to pronounce.

Anyway...
