Re: ATM Wiring Spiders
Dan,
I've been using wire spiders for a number of years. They do give wonderful
views. They aren't that hard to set up depending on the design you use.
Centering the diag holder in the tube depends on getting all your strings
the same length. Make yourself a good jig for wiring up the holder and that
should make all the difference. Unlike standard vanes, there's a certain
amount of stretch to the strings. Believe it or not this is to your
advantage as you can release tension on one side and take it up on the
opposite side and move the holder around inside the tube. Getting the
diagonal aligned with the focuser is another matter though it's still all
about your design. You might look at my web pages on my different wire
spiders. You can find them at www.flyingscopes.com. Make sure to look for
the links to the flyingscope as that has a different spider design.
Hope this helps.
