This link isn't exactly for making a tap but follow the explanation for
making the hob. Making the hob is almost like making a tap.  see

I am struggling with the same problem of machining the threads in a filter
slide that will be an integral part of my focuser. Been thinking of cnc
thread milling to accomplish the threading on the filter slide.
