Re: ATM Collimation is driving me crazy!




Thanks for the feedback guys, but I am still in the dark about whether 
the secondary reflection in the primary should completely hide the 
secondary mount.

I have discovered that I can move the secondary away from the primary by 
backing out all three adjustment screws and tightening the set (center) 
screw. Thus, I can get the secondary lined up with the focuser opening 
and after adjusting the secondary and primary according to procedure, 
everything lines up. This, however, removes the offset that was there 
previously. Now, this offset could have been set in the factory, or by my 
attempts to collimate.

So, I guess my question is, should a 6" F8 w/spherical mirror need any 
offset? I am hoping not. Unfortunately, clouds are forcast for the next 7 
days.
