Hi Gary
Most front windshields and many rear windows are not
tempered glass. They are what is called safety glass.
It is two pieces for float glass with a layer of
plastic film between them to keep the pieces from
flying off when broken. Many side windows are tempered
glass. If you had a crack in tempered glass, it
would have turned to small chunks before you had a
chance to stop the crack with the dremel.
