You can try 1st looking through the binocular to set the interpupiliary
distance to your eyes, and focus on something relatively distant in the store.
Next look just with your eyes at the distant target and bring the binoculars
up in line with the target but hold them far enough away so that you only
see a small part of the field, if mis-collimated you should be able to see
an obvious mis-alignment of the target in the partial fields.

The easiest test jig would be two boards with a central screw shown in
deplorable fashion with ASCII art as an end view below.

Tighten the screw so that the tubes are lightly clamped by the boards.
This rig will allow you to move the tubes to set your interpupiliary
distance and by changing the angle of one of the front or rear tubes you
can get them into horizontal collimation. If the image is off vertically,
try rotating one or both telescopes axially. -Jay-
