ATM ? post

Sorry for the mysterious '?' post. They told me not to press any
buttons...back to the straight jacket I suppose.

Has anyone heard of using a cylinder instead of a traditional knife edge? I
worked with a young astronomer back in 1985 who solved a difficult knife
edge problem by replacing it with a cylinder. It looked like stainless
plumbing tube, space qualified plumbing mind you. He explained to me that in
essence you get an infinite number of knife edges. For every tangent vector
to the cylinder there is a knife edge.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this in their Foucult (sp?) testers or
other equipment that requires a knife edge.
