E&W was up until a few years ago one of the few places where one could
get a ultra flat quartz diagonal. I believe that it just became
economically unfeasable for them to continue making them.

Having made a few batches myself, I can understand, that even with the
facilities of a optical shop available to me, there is no way I could
ever produce them at a price that one would pay for such...

The best on the market at this time may be Crazy Ed's, produced by 
Bob Goff, they're made out of Pyrex, and are uncoated, and are quite
pricey, but......
