ATM Flats and Polishing Pads

Hello one and all:
        One more grade to go and I'll be done fine grinding a set of 6" pyrex
flats. I've had good results so far (one mirror) with polishing pads, so
naturally I'm thinking about using pads to get a good polish on the
flats. Does anyone have any experience with flats and polishing pads? My
tenative plan is to place the pads on one of the flats and polish out
the other four surfaces, then swap the pads and polish out surfaces #5 &
#6. After I have a good polish on all 6 surfaces, I'll pour a pair of
laps on aluminum plates and begin figuring. Seems like this should save
a lot of time. This is my first set of flats and I'd be pleased to hear
from anyone who has made flats, polishing pads or not.
