Maximum slewing speed depends on your scope and setup.  For a small scope
several degrees per second would be fine.  For a larger scope that might knock
someone in the back of the head or tip a ladder over, one to two degrees per
second is ok.  Some special automated scopes can move much faster.  The faster
the slew speed, the more ramp up and ramp down time and distance will be
needed.  That means that when you decide to chop motion, the scope will travel
on for a bit.  If someone is being squeezed into a ladder or fingers caught
somewhere, a very high slew speed can spell trouble.
