ATM PVC Pipe telescope body

Has anyone had any experience using pvc pipe for telescope body tubes? I
have an 6" f8 mirror that I am using for my first telescope construction
project. I found that by using two 1" rings cut to fit inside each other
and glued into the 8" pvc pipe made an exact fit for the aluminum mirror
mount.   If this works I plan to use 10" pipe for an 8" f8 that I am
currently beginning to grind. The pvc works easily and using regular pvc
cement it allows for almost any thing imaginable. I would have to assume
that the pipe would be thermally stable and it is extremely strong and
not too heavy.  Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on PVC?
