ATM Silvering methods

My chemistry teacher would like to try silvering one of my mirrors that does
not have a coating on it yet.  She has one method that is not specialized
for making a smooth thin coating and was wondering if I could find a better
method.  Are there any resources for methods of silvering?  Are there many
different ways?   What are the benifits of each?
