Hi I agree with Richard, many a good book was lost when library staff didn't understand that the material was not obsolete, just because it was 5 or 10 years old. Another option is to get your local astronomy club to start a club library. If it looks like the club is getting too many duplicates, they could use the net to notify other clubs of excess volumes.
