Chuck,

Thanks for the comments on fitting a 24 into a Jeep GC. If attempted, my thoughts are to 
build something along the lines of a minimalist mirror box and low rocker box assembly 
along the lines of the Kriege Obsession with an open tailgate. In my
considerations, the mirror assembly would be either removable as a support system, ala 
StarMaster, or a mirror box sub-assembly such as used by Tom Clark on his 32 - 36 inch 
Tectrons. I'm assuming an approximate 1 1/2 mirror with at least 18
points. As to final configuration of support, I'm also undecided, whether sling or not.  
Single or double ring upper cage is still undecided at this point. Virtual counterweights 
are a possibility as I'm very familiar with Tom Krajci's design
(see my homepage at: http://education.gsu.edu/spehar).

As I measure it out, I've got a square opening of 30 wide X 30 tall  inches due to the 
obstruction of an internally mounted full size spare tire.

Any thoughts/recommendations?
