ATM Terracotta
I have found that red terracotta is way too soft for working glass.
But if you bake it at 1100 degrees C for an hour, it will get hard. In
fact, it gets more than just hard, so you best cut it before you bake
it. This hardening will also shrink the tile by about 8%.
I have used red terracotta for slumping molds, but never for a grinding
tool.
The tile I used is available from Home Depot, and is manufactured in
Spain (our former colonial masters).
