I experimented with my thin 24" and 30" mirrors to see how I could
purposefully deform them.  My 24" was 1 1/4" thick or so at the edge,
and just a several pound weight pulling on the center could change the
wavefront by 1/2 wave easily.  The change was really pretty smooth too.
