Yes, thats quite true, but I guess the point I was trying to make is the
simplicity of just sitting your dob on top of a 5" thick "box" that "moves"
is lost when you start into different designs.

Folks make all sorts of different mounts for all sorts of different
reasons.  I think that is in an ATM'er's "genes" to want to do that!!!
Hooray!!!  More thinking on current stuff just adds to the body of
knowledge and experience we all enjoy sharing!!  That sort of KISS thinking
I think is what allowed John Dobson to build his scopes in the first place.
And the interest in building a better mousetrap is how we all look at
things and better understand how they do what they do!
