Re: [ATM] First Light!
There's pencil and paper and then there's the real world! Nothing beats a
1:1 mock up or trial assembly.
I don't know how many time I drew my scope out 1:1 on butchers paper, but I
know that the real world was noticeably different (maybe not as much as you
found, but I can't recall anymore) to what I had laid out based on my
measurements.
12" F7 sounds like a nice planetary scope, I'm planning a 10" F6.5 right
now, using a blank cast by the Big Mirror Lab at the U of A to go with my
10" F5.6 EQ mounted scope. The new one will have a Dob mounting, as I want a
scope I can "just" set up and look with, not like the EQ, takes too much
effort to set up for my back to handle.
Cheers, Thomas.

Thomas,
Thank you for your counsel. I'll keep that in mind next time. (My 12.5 inch
f/7 is well along now)
A pencil and pad with which I could have done the math might have also been
a good idea at the time.
Regards,
Francis
