In addition to the others, when you take a reading, approach the
proper value from each direction and do so until you can see the
same reading in each direction. You will often find that your eye
will accept different positions as being there when you start
from one directionas opposed to the other.
I like to have the mask slightly illuminated so that I can read
the zone against the gray of the mask as well as the gray of the
other side.
Finally, the "proper" Couder mask is a lot more difficult to read
as compared to a set of masks, one for each zone. Your eye
doesn't have the distraction of all of the other zones to worry
about.
