[ATM] Scope project
Hi folks,
I appreciate all the input from the list and from old friends (thanks Ken)
as I prepare to start a new scope project. Several have asked for more
details about what I propose so here we go. I want to build a 14 or 16"
short scope, truss dob, that will have the maximum eyepiece height at 56".
I know this is very short but since I am in a wheelchair this is the tallest
eyepiece height I can use - it is the height of my current 10" f5 dob that
was my first ATM attempt. I know I will have to grind my own mirror (been
wanting to do that for years, haven't I Ken?) due to the short focal length.
I have glanced at the Mirror-o-matic plans and can build that as an option.
Some have asked about my kilns - I have two 23" round, 1 18" round computer
controlled electric kilns and my pride and joy is a 100 cf gas fired kiln,
36"x48" door. There are some of the construction photos on my website. The
electric and gas kilns fire to 2400 degrees F.
