Re: [ATM] Removing a chrome(?) coating layer
The metal on the lap shouldn't affect things. If you really wnt
to get rid of it tho, just scrape the top layer of the lap with a
razor blade and remove it. Warm press the lap to insure that it
is in good conformance with the mirror afterwoards and everything
will be fine.
Muriatic acid, the common pool acidizer, wil do an excellent job
in a few hours on the mirror next time. I jus did a mirror in the
last month and it took a while but it all came off in the end.
Just put a paper towel over the mirror and pour the acid on the
towel and soak the whole thing. It will turn black where the
acid has worked it's magic. The accid shouldn't (famous last
words!) affect the glass but since you're going to be refiguring,
if therre is some glass eaten away, it will be eating awqy at the
pit covers that may hav happened on the glass which shouldn't be
there in the first place.
