I comiserate with you!
I'd also try the glass people.  They temper glass of large sizes
allthe time.  See if you can provide them with the mold and have
them anneal the glass in one of their ovens.  Then there is
always the warm glass people that are always doing artist type
things with glass.  Maybe somebody there has a big kiln in your
area that can slump the table tops.  You don't need perfect
annealing for a mirror, just some decent annealing.
