If anybody* feels that they have some solid experience as an amateur telescope maker, I could use some assistance on Friday evenings at the NCA-sponsored ATM workshop at the Chevy Chase Community Center, either with taking Couder/Foucault numerical measurements of nearly-completed mirrors, or else guiding newcomers through hogging, intermediate grinding, fine grinding, polishing, and so on. Or helping folks to cast laps, or figuring, and so on and so forth. There are more people working on mirrors now than I can handle. (When we have over a dozen people every night on every stage of the process from hogging to aluminizing to final collimation, it is more than I can manage.)

Especially since our resident ATM expert emeritus, Jerry Schnall, no longer feels well enough to come out at all.

It really is a lot of fun, and there are a lot of folks of all sorts of ages, genders, occupations, and ethnicities, but just don't expect to get rich.
