Ah, fun with fringes! I've found that a green filter )vinyl
sheet from the plastics store of the dark green_ does a nice job
of generating fringes with one of those new flourscent bulbs that
screw into a standard light fixture. Be aware that there are two
kinds of those bulbs, one of which has a general background of
light with the bright lines and the other is just the bright
lines. Take one of those cheap spectrometers with you when you
drop by the lighting store and you will quickly see the
difference.
Been working on getting fringes with a pair of 113" lenses for
Dale again and they show up very nicely after a few seconds if
the glass is dry and free of lint, etc.
