This is indeed true but then again, where is the two of them
closest?  Also, when you are grinding, what is the size of the
grit?  Not only that, what is the wear r4ate of the glass at any
particular point?
All of these questions have to be asked and properly answered to
understand wwhy it is that the surface is not an exact sphere
when grinding and polishing the surface.
