Just a shot in the dark, but if you took this with a web cam, and this 
is the image as it came off the camera, I'd look for a software bug. The 
image on the right has a severe case of compression artifacts, as can be 
seen by the obvious 8x8 pixel blocks that make it up. I'd guess the JPG 
compression software on the camera can't handle something about the 
frequency of the waviness in the mirror and completely mis-compressed 
it. Of course, I may be way off base, but I'd try a different camera. 
You should definitely not be getting any return signal from the hole.
