Re: [ATM] Books
While I don't have a copy of Ellison's original book, I do have a copy of
the first Amateur Telescope Making (1st 1926 edition). The entire text
of Ellison is in this volume with the exception of his chapter on
silvering which has been omitted, the reader being directed to the U.S.
Bureau of Standards instructions (part III) which are also in this
volume. Ellison's text follows with his directions once the silver film
has been deposited. No mention of Ellison's "Achromatic Object Glass"
instructions are found in this volume although they are included in the
later expanded volumes of Amateur Telescope Making.
I made my first mirror (8" porthole in 1946) following these instructions
which are still a good place to start learning the art of glass pushing.
