I have another idea.  Little accents of brass look
great against both black and a cordovan or red
mahogany.  This has worked well for me in the scope
competitons at Stellafane and the RTMC.  You might
consider painting the Al truss tubes black (a
semigloss actually looks like a deeper black than
flat) and save the brass for the fasteners, focuser
knobs, and maybe the UTA ring connector tubes.  That
way you can keep the weight down and still have the
richness of the red-gold color of brass.  IMHO too
much brass looks a bit garish.
