I think this also makes for a smoother surface since the lap 'seems' to 
be able to flow to adapt to the work rate better.  Kind of the same idea 
as frequent pressing, but this is 'constant' pressing.  At least for me 
when I went to heavier pressures, my surfaces got MUCH smoother.
