But then I polish extremely
efficiently, completing a 6 inch in an hour, a 10 inch in two hours, and
larger work in six hours.  For others who struggle with efficient polishing
times, pre-polishing might be a timer saver.

     I've heard of using 3 micron on pads with tile tools as it "more
finely" grinds it, but how do you manage to polish a 6" in an hour? Fast
polishing agents, and a LOT of weight???
