I tried extensively years ago to get a contract with Gugolz to
be a distributor. Basically, I do not recommend this source
because they are very resistant to the idea of supplying this
product to anyone outside their usual outlets (don't remember
if it was Zeiss or Leica). It is not easy to get, so the places
that sell this often have a discontinuous supply.

I am aware of a place in San Leandro California that sells Gugolz
pitch and I am pretty sure they will ship. Their supply is not
regular, but if you order it, you usually ultimately get it. This
source was recommended by the people at Chabot Observatory.

This is where I have gone for about 10 years, the last time I tried to
order anything from Abrasives Unlimited, they did not return my faxes
or emails. When I finally reached them, it was explained that they were
no longer interested in supplying ATMs, and I suspect they were thinking
about closing because they were not receptive to new larger purchases
either. The contact person was always Mike Loberg, who was helpful, but
I think he no longer works there.

Hence, I have been looking into getting my own stocks of pitch from the
local forests (Scandinavia). My first attempts were not good enough for
distribution, although it worked well enough for my needs. The yield
was also very low. I did get round to contacting a timber company and
they seemed interested in allowing me to haul away pitch if I came with
a truck. I may well do this some time.
